Sustainable Aquaculture Using Recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS)

The main objective of the placement is collaborating in the development of a sustainable process of cultivation in captivity of the mullet (Chelon labrosus). More specifically, we are impelmenting conventional recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) setting up a water treatment system in the SBBR configuration (Secuencing Batch Biofilm Reactor). We will implement an operating procedure of the RAS for the removal of organic matter and ammonia from the waters coming from the mullet fattening tanks. Tasks: On-line monitoring of temperature, pH, redox potential, dissolved oxygen (DO) and total suspended solids (SST); development of laboratory analysis protocols ( NH4 +, NO2-, Conductivity, …).

Timetable:

Placement can start during the semester (starting in February) always avoiding losses of courses.
