Work will consist in the collection and analysis of microplastics from atmospheric deposition and seawater samples in the Ria Formosa. The atmospheric time-series has been running from more than one year now, using collectors located at Centro de Ciência Viva do Algarve, in the city of Faro. The seawater time-series was started in November 2020. The sampling is done from a kayak, using a zooplankton net, in waters surrounding the Centro de Ciência Viva. The aim is to find a correlation between microplastics found in the air and the seawater, something that has not been investigated thus far.
