Photo-id of Shannon Dolphins

The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (https://iwdg.ie/shannon-dolphin-project/) is one of the longest dolphin photo-id in Europe. The student will join a core team in Kilrush, Co Clare, Ireland at the Shannon Dolphin Centre. The student will contribute to our long-term study by:

i) assisting in matching dorsal fin images from photographs, ii) input data on the db, iii) assist in data collection in the estuary iv) assisting with our outreach projects

Last year (2020) the IWDG helped an IMBRSea student Kimn Ellen Ludwig with her thesis and in 2019 IMBRSea student Miguel Blásquez also carried out his thesis with the project (Blázquez, M., Baker, I., O'Brien, J.M. and Berrow, S.D. (2020) Aquatic Mammals 46(3), 307-325, DOI 10.1578/AM.46.3.2020.307)

The student will also assist in other fieldwork we hope to be carrying out including photo-grammetry, blow sampling as well as visiting stranded animals in the area.
