Cellular effects of toxic chemicals in marine organisms

The student will have a practical training on some of the most important techniques to highlight health conditions and/or adverse cellular effects of contaminants on marine organisms. Approaches can include determination of detoxification pathways, molecular and cellular responses, onset of cellular toxicity.

Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques might be useful.
Safety issues: 
The student will be trained on pertinent safety issues, including those related to covid-19.

COVID-19 contingency plan: 
Should the on-site training be still prevented by actual pandemic conditions, the student will be provided with packages for 2-weekly tasks, including scientific literature, presentations and posters on which the student will have to produce two written reports or PowerPoint presentations. These activities will be integrated with virtual connections in the laboratory, allowing the student to follow the practical experience and cellular/molecular analyses performed by experienced personnel.
