Assessing and monitoring cumulative impacts of climate change and anthropogenic impacts on vulnerable deep-ocean ecosystems (RPP11)

The project aims at developping a scientific expert report and proposal to implement ecosystem monitoring to be shared with MPA managers and other stakeholders. The general theme is the rising pressures on ecosystems identified as functional or biodiversity hotspots on the ocean floor, such as hydrothermal fields, submarine canyons or seamounts. Focusing on a specific marine area (to be selected by the group), the project will address knowledge needs and identify possible monitoring/observing methods. The proposal will describe the potential factors of vulnerability and define an interdisciplinary strategy to monitor changes and help anticipating risks.
