Development of a sustainable process for mullet aquaculture using innovative diets

The main objective of the project is to develop a sustainable process of cultivation in captivity of the mullet (Chelon labrosus), which provides product traceability, in terms of nutritional quality. The tasks will be the breeding and fattening of commercial fry, (1) using standard methods of operation and feeding, and (2) natural diets based on feed with microalgae rich in Omega 3. The animals fed with two commercial feeds (trout and tilapia) will be kept for the task 1. The one that gives the best performance and ensures the best quality of the meat of the fish will be compared with the feed formulated with algae rich in Omega 3 produced by GAIKER for the task 2. Samples of fish will be collected for biometrical analysis, histology and analytical chemistry at different time intervals.
